Opposites

a visual learning book for children about building emotional intelligence

Learning is a labyrinth of exploration, inquiry, practice, and adjustment. Opposites is a book about building wider experience and deeper emotions from a maze of possibilities. Awareness of polarity gives us the realization that things we call opposite are not independent but are implicitly one. With opposites, each is defined in terms of the other. This can lead to self-expression and empathy, critical and creative thinking, cooperation and collaboration, constructive communication, for developing deep values and confidence in oneself - emotional intelligence.

For ages 7 - 17 and appropriate for all ages.

A few page spreads from the book…

Some things seem like opposites, but when you look close and look deep, you are looking at the same thing.

Some things look opposite because of your point of view.

Sometimes different perspectives are opposite, but can be widened to experience empathy for others.

Sometimes things are opposite, but both are true. Opposites can complement each other, bring balance and equanimity.

Polarity gives us an awareness of opposites that when brought together make a whole. With opposites, each is defined in terms of the other.

“A great truth is a truth whose opposite is also a great truth.
